A Deputy Minister of Power, John Jinapor, says government has secured enough fuel to meet the demands of the various thermal plants, a move that has led to stability in power supply.
“I can confirm that we have secured enough crude oil for those plants,” he stressed.
This follows concerns raised in different quarters that loadshedding has returned.
Mr Jinapor explained that the situation was as a result of technical challenges beyond their control.
“What we thought will take 2 week is now taking about 5 weeks and the gfact is that once it continues, i puts a strain on our power-generating system.
But engineers are working around the clock to switch all dual fuel plants to light crude,” the Deputy Power Minister said in an interview on TV3 on Monday, April 11.
He insisted that since Friday, April 8, load has not been shed in any part of the country as the demands of consumers have been met.
“We have enough capacity to meet the demand and so if currently, you have enough capacity to meet the demand, what will be the essence of publishing a loadshedding schedule?” he asked.
