Mahama is violating rights of Ghanaians – Konadu

Some decisions of President John Mahama and his government are violating the rights of Ghanaians, according to Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

The former First Lady argued Mahama and his appointees are deceiving Ghanaians with the mantra – Transforming Lives – ahead of the 2016 elections while looting the coffers of the state.

She stated Mahama has performed poorly and must be changed because Ghanaians cannot even boast of access to clean water among other basic needs.

Konadu described the “poor performance” of the Mahama-led administration as a “violation of the human rights of Ghanaians.”

“It is not when someone puts a knife to your throat that is equal to violence,” Mrs Rawlings said at an event to swear in the new executives of the Greater Accra branch of the National Democratic Party (NDP) on Thursday.

She continued: “It’s not when someone breaks into your car that is equal to violence or when someone even attacks you. Violence is when you have violated us and when we have given you the mandate to run the country efficiently and effectively and you are able to disrupt the lives of Ghanaians, but you can tell us you are changing our lives.

“Indeed, you are changing our lives, but not for the better. It is not easy in Ghana today. Violence is also when you have ruled the country badly and people have no clean water to drink, people can’t pay their children’s school fees among others.”

“You are doing things that are violating our lives. You are transforming our lives into the negative. It’s not positive,” Mrs Rawlings opined.

According to her, the NDP will “restore sanity into this country – a situation where you can live and I can live. Let’s have a situation where we can say live and let’s live not die.”
