Armed robbers storm Kwahu; many arrested

The on-going Easter celebrations at Kwahu in the Eastern region has turned sour for some celebrants following reports of robbery attacks on visitors.

According to reports, some armed robbers are taking advantage of the festivities to rob revelers of their valuables.

This according to Inspector Richmond Mensah of the Eastern Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, is taking the shine off the event.

He indicated that, while the robbers attack revelers on their way home, another gang also do their operation in isolated communities in Kwahu.

Inspector Mensah says a lot of people have reported of their phones, ipads and monies being stolen in spite of the heavy security presence in the area.
He said majority of the suspected armed robbers arrested would be screened and sent to Accra for prosecution.

Though the police has called for reinforcement, he cautioned revelers to be responsible for their personal security.

Inspector Mensah added that the police has began investigations to ensure the culprits face the full rigours of the law.
