Help people to overcome intolerance and suspicion

The Eastern Regional Minister, Ms. Mavis Ama Frimpong, has urged the clergy to do more to help people to overcome intolerance, suspicion and disunity.

She said it was important for all to accept to live in genuine peace and harmony, pointing out that this was the way to go to bring progress.

She was receiving a delegation from the Worldwide Council of the Clergy (WCC) to her office in Koforidua.

They were there to congratulate the Minister on her appointment and to ask for her God’s gift of wisdom and protection, to successfully administer the region.

Ms. Frimpong underlined the need to pull together to make this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections trouble-free.

She said despite the challenges, God had been generous to nation and that the people needed to show appreciation for the abundant mercies by upholding the peace.

“God has been good to us as a nation, where we started from is not the same as where we are today and so as Christian leaders you need to let the people know how far the lord has brought us”, she added.

Ms. Frimpong advised against inflammatory rhetoric to keep the political temperature down as the nation edged closer to the general election.

Bishop Felix Awuah, the President of the Council, reminded the Minister to trust in God and to rely on him for guidance.

He assured her of their continued prayers so that the region under her watch would see tremendous progress.
