Increased police patrols’ push down crime

Increased police highway and community patrols had substantially reduced robbery attacks in three districts under the watch of the Konongo Divisional Police Command.

The Asante-Akim Central Municipality, Asante-Akim North and the Asante-South Districts had for the past six months recorded zero cases of robbery.

Police Superintendent Bossman Ohene Boadi, the Divisional Commander, said the achievement would, however, not make anybody complacent and that they were determined to sustain the momentum.

He was receiving two motorbikes and 20 crash barriers donated by the Asante-Akim Central Municipal Assembly at a ceremony in Konongo. Valued at about GH?14,644.00, these were meant to assist the officers to perform.

Supt Boadi said check points had been erected in four identified crime spots Nnadieso, Pra-River Junction, Juaso and Bomfa Junctions, where highway robbers used to be active.

He applauded the municipal assembly for the tremendous support it was providing the police and pledged to continue to work hard to give security protection to the people.

They were determined to ensure that there was law and order to enable the people to go about their business without fear.

Alhaji Braimah Boyong, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said peace and security was a top priority of the assembly and that it would do everything to aid the police with the tools they needed to efficiently carry out their duties.

He said it was also taking steps to tackle the accommodation problems they faced, adding that, it would soon donate a bungalow to the service.

He invited other institutions and the well-to-do in the society to accept to complement government’s effort at equipping the police.
