Two children drown in Kumasi after downpour

Two children have reportedly died following the Friday night downpour which flooded several areas in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

The victims, 9-year-old boy, Zainab Nasiru-Deen and 8-year-old girl, Ayigya Zongo, reportedly fell into an overflowing gutter and got drowned in the rains which lasted for three hours. The incident occurred around 5pm.

The body of the boy has been retrieved whiles a search is still under for the body of the girl.

Families of the both children are said to be involved in the search.

Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako Justice reports that the father of the girl Nasiru-Deen has been hospitalised as a result of the shock he suffered following the incident.
