The race for the Madina Constituency Parliamentary Seat has gotten fiercer as the incumbent, Alhaji Amadu Bukari Sorogoh, has fired salvos at his close contender, Alhaji Abubakar Boniface Siddick saying the constituency is not a dumping ground for political failures.
In an exclusive interview with Atinkaonline Wednesday, incumbent Alhaji Armadu Sorogho, said his close contender has been rejected several times.
“Boniface failed to win the Salaga seat in 2000 and in the 2012 so he is a failure,” he charged.
“I want to tell Alhaji Bonnice that the Madina Constituency is not a ‘borla’ place where any political failure can seek political asylum. The electorates of Madina are very discerning and I believe they will not buy into any cheap politics. They know Alhaji Boniface has nothing better to offer the people of Madina.
“Boniface was a substantive Minister for three different ministries. Under his watch as the Minister of Water Resource Works and Housing, Residents of Madina didn’t have water for five years. How many people did he employ when he was at the Ministry of Employment of Social Welfare?
“How many jobs did he create for the Madina people,” Sorogoh charged. I have created over 300 jobs for people in Madina. Now, clean and portable water runs through taps in every house in Madina.”
Rebutting the claims, Alhaji Boniface said Amadu Sorogoh is politically ignorant. “He is too full of himself. He has done nothing for the people. He has not provided important amenities to ensure the welfare of the people.
“As the head of the Fire Service Council, Alhaji Sorogoh imported uniforms for service personnel with condoms in them,” he alleged.
Political pundits have tipped Boniface to win the seat as Sorogo’s political fortunes have dwindled over the years.
In the 2012 elections, Amadu Bukari Sorogoh chalked 41, 441 votes which represents 52.07%. His close contender, James Amoah on the Ticket of the NPP garnered 34, 854 votes representing 43.78 %.
In the 2008 election, Alhaji Amadu Bukari Sorogho had 30,717 representing 70.11%.
