Cabbie remanded for having sex with daughter

A taxi driver who paid examinations printing fee for his daughter in order to have sex with her has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court charged with incest.

Emmanuel Abbey, who had been frequently having sex with the victim, is alleged to have twice impregnated the victim.

Abbey pleaded guilty and the court presided over by Mrs Ruby Naa Adjeley remanded him into custody for sentencing on March 29, 2016.

The accused person admitted having sex with the victim but denied aborting her two pregnancies. He further prayed for forgiveness from the victim and her mother and promised not repeat the act.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector Grace Bandeh said the victim’s mother was the complainant.

According to the prosecutor the complainant is a trader residing at Awoshie while the accused lived at Pobiman, near Amasaman, Accra.

Prosecution told the court that complainant and accused were divorced hence the victim sometimes lived with father and her mother’s relations.

The prosecutor said between 2013 and 2016, the victim lived with her father (Abbey) together with his wife and four other children.

According to prosecutor, the victim once asked for exams printing fees from her father where the accused told him that he would only pay the money if she allowed him to have sex with her of which she obliged.

Prosecution said the accused has since continue to have sex with her and even got pregnant on two occasions of which he gave him medicine to abort them.

Inspector Bandeh said on March 7, this year the victim reported Abbey’s conduct to an auntie who confronted him.

Abbey subjected the victim to severe beating for reporting him to her auntie the victim’s mother was informed where she lodged a complainant with the Police and the victim was issued with a medical form to seek medical attention.

The following day, prosecution said Abbey was arrested and in his caution statement admitted the offence.
