Fulani herdsman jailed 18 years for defilement

A Fulani herdsman, Rora Mawunyi, 35, has been sentenced to 18 years imprisonment with hard labour by a Kpando Circuit Court after he defiled two minors at Nkran Akura in the Krachi East District of the Volta Region last month.

The victims who are 9 and 10-years-old had gone to a stream in the town to wash when the suspect who had brought his cattle to drink water threatened them with a knife and ordered them to lay down following which he defiled the two.

The Dambai District Police Command since the crime was committed in February initiated further investigations into the matter, and vowed to ensure the culprit was brought to book.

Rora now goes to jail to spend his next eighteen productive years not with his cattle as he has done over the past years, but with other inmates in whom he’ll find company.
