Robbers terrorize Apre residents

Residents of Apre, a suburb in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region are living in fear following constant attacks by robbers in their various homes and shops.

The robbers who operate in the night, rob their victims of their monies, mobile phones, laptops and other electrical appliances.

Sometimes they inflict wounds on their victims who try to resist the nefarious activities by putting up some form of resistance.

Residence reveal that a week ago, some unknown persons on motorbike snatched the bag of a woman containing her personal s belongings in the night while she was on her way from work.

The same day, 52-year old man within the same neighbourhood was also robbed after the robbers looted all provisions in his.

A family living in a 7-bedroom house in the area on Thursday dawn were almost robbed when they were saved by their electric fence which scared the robbers away.

According to an elderly woman in the house, they heard a strange noise at the back of their house, upon which they started calling each other on phone.

She indicated that for fear of losing their lives or being shot by the robbers, they could not come out of their various rooms.

‘The robbers failed in their attempt to cut the electric fence wire,’ she explained.

She indicated that they were traumatised by the event, calling on the police to provide security for the residents in the area to curb nefarious activities of the robbers.

The case has since been reported to the Apre Police for investigations.
