Agogo Fulanis change operational tactics – DCE

District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti Region, Paul Kingsley Aweh Averu has revealed that nomadic Fulani herdsmen in the area have devised a new strategy in engaging in criminal activities.

His revelation comes on the heels of the murder of two persons in the raging confusion between residents of the area and the nomads.

“We have been able to flush out the Fulanis and their cattle but what is now worrying is that they have changed a strategy. I have briefed the new regional minister and I am sure the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) will work towards mitigating the effect of this new tactic”, he revealed to Prince Minkah on the Ultimate Breakfast Show.

He commended the various security agencies for playing significant roles in driving away the Fulanis and their cattle but hinted that he is liaising with his counterpart in Fanteakwa in the Eastern Region to ensure that the nefarious activities of these herdsmen becomes a thing of the past.

Mr. Averu however advised residents of the area to protect themselves within the confines of the law stating that the latest twist to the operations of the Fulanis is a major source of worry to his outfit.
