House of Chiefs unhappy about chieftaincy disputes

Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V, the President of the Brong-Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, said emerging chieftaincy disputes were serious threat to peace and stability in the Region.

He has however appealed for concerted support towards finding amicable solutions to the disputes.

Pimampim Kagbrese V, who is the Omanhene of Yeji Traditional Area, made the appeal at the first general meeting of the House in Sunyani on Friday.

He said though the House was able to dispose off 10 out of the 60 cases before the House at the close of last year, new cases have emerged making the situations look bad.

Pimampim Kagbrese said several attempts have been made by the House to bring the cases to the barest minimum by appointing mediation committees, but all efforts made became fruitless.

He was optimistic that the various traditional areas with chieftaincy disputes would give peace a chance and allowed the mediation committees to do their work.

Pimampim Kagbrese expressed unhappiness about the land litigations at Abesim, which falls under the Dormaa Traditional Council, which he said was another security threat that needed to be addressed.
