Mr Philip Addison has said he has been promised an appointment in a future Akufo-Addo government.
Mr Addison recently won the re-run of the Korle Klottey parliamentary primary of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) by beating Nii Noi Nortey, who won the slot in August last year.
Mr Addison challenged the results in court and forced a re-run, of which he emerged victor on Saturday, February 27.
Asked if his persistence to become a Member of Parliament was because he wanted to be appointed Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr Addison told Nhyira Addo on Joy FM’s Super Morning show that he did not need to be a legislator to land an appointment in an Akufo-Addo presidency.
“I don’t have my eyes on the AG’s office, I think the prerogative is that of the president,” he said, adding: “what I have been hearing is that I do not need to go to parliament because I am assured of an appointment.”
Mr Addison represented presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo and two others in the 2012 election petition, which ran for eight months after the Electoral Commission declared President John Mahama winner of that race.
