Reports on seven nominees not diligent misrepresented – Parliament

Vice Chairman of Parliament’s Appointment Committee, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has said reports making rounds that the seven Ministerial nominees recently approved by the House to serve in various designated portfolios were not diligent for their prescribed jobs are false.

It was widely reported that the first batch of nominees for ministerial appointment after vetting by the Appointments Committee were discovered not to be diligent enough, according to the committee’s report.

But the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Anopa Kasapa said such reports were misrepresented.

“ Off-course we had some concerns with their Curriculum Vitae [CVs] which were mostly fraught with errors, gaps and sometimes overlaps and seeming conflict. This is where our criticism comes in the report we put out there- that they hadn’t been diligent in the drafting of their own CVs for which reason almost all of them, we advised that they present us with refined copies,” he cleared.

He said this formed the basis of the committee’s concerns that the nominees in their endeavours as Ministers were expected to show greater diligence when they were finally approved by the House.

He insisted that the committee did not have any doubt to their competence as incoming Ministers.
