Afigya-Sekyere DCE worried about low revenue mobilisation

Agona (Ash), Sept 2, GNA – Mr Ben Abankwa, Afigya-Sekyere District Chief Executive, has expressed concern about low revenue mobilisation in the district.

He said out of the targeted revenue of one billion cedis for this year the assembly is also to mobilise 200 million cedis as at the end of June.

Mr Abankwa was speaking at the opening of a three-day workshop for revenue staff of the assembly at Agona on Monday. It was aimed at building the capacity of the collectors to enable them to develop effective strategies to improve on revenue mobilisation in the district.

Mr. Abankwa said in order to improve on revenue collection the assembly is introducing a number of measures to achieve targets. These include incentive packages for revenue collectors, revaluation of all rateable properties in the district and recruitment of new revenue collectors.

Mr Abankwa said the assembly has contracted two private companies to assist in the collection of revenue from quasi-government and private sector businesses in the district.
