Haruna Iddrisu eulogizes Rawlings, Kufuor, Mills

Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Employment and Labour Relations has praised former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor and Professor John Evans Atta Mills for contributing to the nation education.

He said for instance, former President Rawlings effort behind the establishment of the University for Development Studies (UDS) was incredible and proposed that the University be named after him in the near future.

“It was part of his personal and individual commitment to expand access to higher education particularly for northern students that resulted in the establishment of the university”, he said.

Mr Haruna Iddrisu said this during a public lecture at the Wa campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS).

The forum was organised by the Development Communication Students Association (DEVCOSA) of the Department of African and General Studies (DAGS) under the Faculty of Integrated Development Studies (FIDS).

The event was on the theme: “Communication and Development in Contemporary Ghana”.

The Tamale South Member of Parliament (MP) also suggested that the Tarkwa School of Mines should be named after former President Kufuor while the University for Allied Health Sciences named after former President John Evans Atta Mills of blessed memory in honour of their effort towards the establishment of the universities.
