An Accra High Court has dismissed an interim injunction seeking to restrain the Presbyterian Church of Ghana from interfering in the duties of Rev. Dr.. Kofi Ofosu Adutwum as Synod Clerk of the Church. The Court, presided over by Justice Nana Tawiah Gyamera, was, however, silent on another application by Rev. Adutwum who was dismissed last May, seeking to compel the church to pay him salaries and allowances as synod clerk until the substantive case before the court is disposed of. But it ordered the church to pay all salaries and allowances due Rev. Adutwum as a pastor. Mr.. Justice Nana Gyamera said reasons for the ruling will be given later. In the substantive suit, Rev. Dr.. Adutwum is asking the court to declare null and void the findings and recommendations of a committee that probed a quarrel between him and another pastor, Rev. Philip Laryea, last May. He is also pleading with the court to declare null and void the decision of the Emergency Synod of the church last July. Rev. Dr.. Adutwum argued that the Committee that proved the quarrel denied him basic rights and the rules of natural justice, while the Emergency Synod was unconstitutional and had shown bias against him.
