Acute water shortage has hit Nsawam and its surrounding suburbs making life unbearable for the people in the area including students of St Martins Senior High School at Adoagyiri.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), at Adoagyiri Sarbo Zongo, Mr Michael Vortia Assembly Member for Adoagyiri Zongo, said some of the affected areas included Nsawam, Adoagyiri Zongo, Adoagyiri Sarbo Zongo, Gyankrom, Ashanti Akura, Sekyikrom and Amoakrom.

Mr Vortia said the only good drinking water source in the area is the River Densu, which has dried up and the small part which has some water was being polluted by cows and animals.

He said students of St Martins SHS have begun digging holes in search of water, which does not augur well for teaching and learning.

Mr Vortia appealed to the government to come to the aid of the people of Nsawam/Adoagyiri Municipality with water tankers to supply water to the affected areas as well as dig boreholes for the communities.
