Man lynched for killing friend over bowl of rice

Two young men lost their lives following a row over a bowl of rice at Benyimase, a village near Anhwia Nkwanta in the Bekwai District of the Ashanti Region.

The bodies of the two men, both 30, have been deposited at the Bekwai Government Hospital.

Accra News’ Ashanti correspondent Ogyam Boamah said on Wednesday, Kwadwo Ayeka visited his friend, Yaw Gyamfi, at home where he met him eating a bowl of rice.

Kwadwo requested to join Yaw for the meal but the latter refused, saying the food was inadequate for the two of them. After persistent refusals by his friend, Kwadwo violently lifted his friend off his seat, aloft, dropped him to the ground, and seized his food.

Yaw, according to the correspondent, became too weak to walk after the incident, for which reason his family took him to the hospital, but died on the morning of Friday February 12, 2016.

Ayeka, after hearing the news of his friend’s demise, tried to skip town, but was apprehended by four young men who beaten him up until he died the same day.
