Afriwave saga: Prosecute IMANI – Consultant

An international business consultant, Prince Kassim Alubankudi, wants IMANI Ghana dragged to court if documents it produced on the Afriwave deal are fake.

He said commentary on the matter has sent a negative impression of Ghana to the outside world and urgent steps need to be taken to redeem the country’s image.

The award-winning think-tank alleges that the NCA did not do due diligence in the award of the contract to Afriwave telecom to operate an Interconnect Clearinghouse.

The NCA in December, 2014 set up a selection committee to evaluate applications from companies to bid for the establishment of the clearing service for the telecommunication industry.

Afriwave which is a Ghanaian-based company was awarded a licence by the NCA to operate the clearing service following recommendations by the eight-member evaluation committee chaired by Albert E. Enninful.

But Executive Director of Imani, Franklin Cudjoe said a leaked document in their possession shows inconsistencies in the scores awarded Afriwave at the evaluation stage. William Tevie, the Director General of the NCA maintains that the process leading up to the award of the contract had been fair and transparent.

Mr. Alubankudi told Starr News the issues must be thoroughly investigated to establish the real truth of the matter considering the sensitive nature of the subject.

“We have to properly look at this. We have to properly investigate the source of IMANI’s document. We have to properly find out from both the NCA what is their true copy and what is IMANI producing,” he stressed.

He added that the international business community will be apprehensive in dealing with Ghana if clarity is not brought on this matter.
