THE murder of an African woman, believed to have been thrown off a service apartment in Jalan Ampang yesterday, may be linked to a syndicate involved in the infamous African Black Money scam.
This is one of the theories the police are probing into, as they also investigate other motives including ‘crime of passion’.
Initial investigations revealed that the unidentified woman, in her late 20’s or early 30’s, could have been killed after being embroiled in problems with three other foreigners.
About 5.30pm, she had accompanied a male African to her unit on the eighth floor of the Sucasa Service Apartments where they were believed to have had an argument.
Several minutes later, security personnel found her sprawled on the ground floor of the apartment’s rear compound.
The woman was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital but died at 6.30pm.
Checks by police revealed that the apartment was rented by a Frenchman, Pierre Pascal Marie, 47, just three days earlier.
Following a search of the unit, police found passports belonging to two male Africans, a photostat copy of a passport, a bottle of chemicals and a tuft of hair believed to belong to the victim.
The passports bore the names of Yakabu Sulemana, 27, of Ghana and Garba Joe L, 24, from Liberia.
Police believe that all three had gone into hiding following the woman’s death.
Sentul CID chief Deputy Superintendent Sabardin Razali said police had classified the case as murder.
Although police did not have any information on the victim’s identity, he said she could have been the companion of one of the three foreigners.
“Based on initial investigations, there was a heated argument between the woman and her male companion, before she fell from the eighth floor,” he said.
“We are looking into all aspects, including the Black Money Scam link and a possible love triangle which could have been the cause of the murder,” he said, declining to elaborate.
