Onsy withdraws suit against CPP

Former Presidential aspirant of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Onsy Nkrumah, has withdrawn the suit against the CPP that intended to stop the party from holding its presidential primaries.

Mr. Nkrumah, prior to the CPP primaries filed a suit at the Human Rights Court to stop the congress after he was disqualified by the party.

Onsy who claims to be the son of Ghana’s first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was disqualified by the party from the presidential race after he presented a cheque instead of a banker’s draft for his filing fee.

Onsy described his disqualification by the party as unjust and baseless.

In his statement of claim, the controversial politician asked the court to order the party to reinstate him in the race.

“The plaintiff was manhandled and was only lucky that some good Samaritans were around to whisk him away from the hands from the hands of the [CPP] who had planned to block his attempt at filling his nominations forms.

“The plaintiff says he has made several attempts to file his nomination but either the defendant had caused thugs to block him at the entrance to the party offices or there had been no one at the party office to receive his nomination,” the writ said.
