The Effutu Municipal Unit Committees has been inaugurated with a call on members to conduct themselves with decorum and to live above reproach.
Mr Francis Owusu-Ansah, Effutu Municipal Coordinating Director, said this when he inaugurated and inducted the 16 unit committees in the Municipality on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Francis Tagoe at two separate ceremonies held in the Municipality.
The Co-ordinating Director, who led them to take the oaths of office, secrecy and allegiance, charged them to collaborate with the chiefs to provide a focal point for discussing local problems and where necessary make recommendations to the assembly through the Zonal Council.
“You have volunteered to serve your communities and the Municipal at large, thus there is the need for you to forego certain things, because they may not be compatible with the ethics of your present position as an opinion leader”.
He said the Effutu Municipal Assembly Administration will organized an orientation workshop for all the unit committees in order to equip them with the basic tenets of decentralization and the core mandate of their office.
Mr Owusu-Ansah said the Effutu Assembly has put in place various programmes to revamp the Zonal Councils and this includes the acquisition of lands and the construction of offices for all the Zonal Councils.
Mr Sylvester Silver, Effutu Assembly Presiding Member, advised the committees to team up as one people to enable them forge ahead to help bring sanity and development into the society.
He urged members to be committed, dedicated and above all show respect to their authorities.
