An unnamed police officer on guard duties at the Danyame residence of the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Kofi Boakye has shot his colleague.
The Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Yussif Tanko who confirmed the incident to Prince Minkah on the Ultimate Breakfast Show, disclosed that the incident occurred on Monday evening February 8, 2016.
According to him, the victim stationed in Bole in the Northern Region, visited the residence of the Police Chief and demanded to see him but the guard indicated to him he was not around.
The situation degenerated into violent confrontations leading to the guard firing several warning shots before hitting him on the leg at close range.
He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he is currently on admission responding to treatment.
According to ASP Tanko, the police administration is expecting the full recovery of the victim before they could launch investigations into the matter.
“At the moment, we have only taken the side of the police guard while we wait for his colleague on admission to recover. But from the narration he gave us, it looks like his colleague from north is mentally deranged”, he indicated
