Danquah’s death sign of great things to happen – Atta Akyea

Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South Samuel Atta Akyea has said the death of his colleague MP Joseph Boakye Danquah, although sad, could be a sign of good things to happen to the New Patriotic Party in the November polls.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North in the Eastern region was stabbed Tuesday dawn at his residence at Shiashie in the capital, Accra.

The police have commenced investigations into the act which was allegedly committed by unknown assailants.

Commenting on the matter, Mr. Akyea told Nii Arday Clegg on the Morning Starr that even though the incident will temporarily affect the party, it will not impact negatively on their chances in the 2016 elections.

“I think it will be a temporary setback, the resilience of our party, especially the flagbearer and everybody will tell you that this is a major lost; I don’t want to pretend that it is an ordinary event but give us a little time we will bounce back and find a befitting replacement and soldier on to victory in 2016.

“That is how great things also happen, when something very great is about to happen you see setbacks and reversals but at all times if you have sense of destiny and history you will have your energies back again,” he said.

Danquah, a chartered accountant, would have been 51 in July.

He was a deputy women and children’s affairs minister under the John Agyekum Kufuor administration.

Prior to becoming an MP, he was the Executive Director, Automotive Springs (Ghana) Limited, Accra.

He left behind a wife and two children.
