Accra, Aug. 27, GNA – The President of the Eden Theological Seminary of the United Church of Christ in Missouri, USA, left Accra on Wednesday after attending the just-ended 62nd Synod of the E.P. Church, Ghana, at which he was the special guest.
During a pre-departure interview with newsmen at the Kotoka International Airport, Rev. Dr Hall lauded the E.P. Church’s decision to establish a university in the country and assured the Church that he would mobilize resources in the US to help the project.
He said he would do this by recruiting volunteer professors from the USA who would come over to assist in the running of the university. Rev. Dr Hall, who is also the Vice President of the Council of the United Church University, said it was a pity that qualified students could not gain admission into the universities in Ghana because of limited vacancy.
Touching on the theme of the Synod, “Closing the Gaps” Rev. Dr Hall said the church should take the lead in healing issues that were tearing apart families, nations and society.
He said there should be reconciliation among all men, adding that this was the vanguard role of the church in bringing hope to the nation. The Reverend Dr Seth Agodi, Principal of the E.P. Church Seminary at Peki in the Volta Region, lauded the decision to return mission schools to the churches.
He said the church and school were two powerful institutions that were cardinal in the shaping of morality, adding that the decision therefore, gave back to the church this traditional role of shaping society. Rev. Dr Hall donated 1,000 dollars for the connection of electricity to the Peki Seminary to support an Information Technology department.
