Ghana grateful to Egyptian medical team

Dr Victor Bampoe, the Deputy Minister of Health, has lauded the Egyptian medical team for the immense support rendered to the country towards the provision of health care.

“We want to say thank you for the brotherhood assistance you have shown to Ghana by improving lives,” Dr Bampoe stated in Accra, at a farewell ceremony, organised by the Ministry of Health for the medical team.

The team of Egyptian health professionals have been in the country since September 2015 at the invitation of the Ministry of Health to complement the efforts of their Ghanaian counterparts in ensuring quality health care delivery.

The 15 doctors worked in Ho, Cape Coast, Yendi, and Tamale Government hospitals.

The Deputy Health Minister called for a continuous collaboration among the medical team and the two countries to improve the health of the people.

Mr Mohammed Heider, the Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, said the team rendered services in the areas of surgery, radiology, consultations, and pediatrics.

“They had 24 major operations, 40 anesthesia cases, 607 outpatient department cases and 304 inpatient cases and they were all successful.”

He explained that the team also helped trained 148 Ghanaian doctors in their field of specialty.

Dr Abdelaal Elbahnasy, the leader of the medical team, commended the Ghanaian doctors and nurses for their excellent cooperation and urged them to sustain such attitude.

“Let us make this a permanent initiative where at least there will be a continuous support every month,” he added.
