The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has described the strike by the Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives as a betrayal.
GRNMA says it is negotiating with the authorities over the issue so the unpaid nurses should have been patient with their action.
Health service delivery at the major hospitals across the country, especially the rural areas, have been interrupted today February 3, 2016, as over 7,000 nurses belonging to the Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives embark on an indefinite nationwide strike to demand unpaid salaries.
But President of the GRNMA, Kwaku Asante-Krobea told Onua FM’s Yensempa that “we were leading them to discuss their issue but did not end only for us to hear such thing so we feel they have betrayed us because we are fighting for them”.
He asserted “they are saying they can fight for themselves so we shall not fight for them again”.
