African Submarine Cable Project

The third meeting of the Financial and Commercial Working Croup of the West and South-West Africa submarine cable project has opened in Accra. The project, when completed, will provide direct cable connections between Southern and West African countries. It will be wholly owned by telecommunication operators in the Region. The Managing Director of Ghana Telecom, Mr.. Adnan Roflee explained that the meeting will plan ways of providing better telecommunication links between African countries and the rest of the world through the submarine system. Most of the Telecommunication systems in the sub-Region depend on Satellite for communications. He said the project when completed will provide diversity and enhance multi media communication.
