Parliament hosts Italian Premier today

Parliament will Tuesday February 2, 2016 host Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

Mr Renzi is in the country for a two-day working visit during which he will tread the paths of US President Barack Obama and the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, by addressing the House.

Prior to his visit to Ghana’s parliament, the Prime Minister will hold discussions with Speaker Edward Doe Adjaho, as well as leaders of the Majority and Minority caucuses.

Deputy Director of Parliament’s Public Affairs Department Kate Addo, speaking to Class News, said adequate security and logistical measures have been put in place to make the visit a success.

According to her: “Preparations are similar to what we do when our president is coming to deliver the State of the Nation Address, so, we are expecting that he will sit at the podium with the Speaker and that he will use our facilities on the podium to deliver his speech.

“Arrangements in terms of audio, chamber preparations, and members attending the House have all been put in place.”

Members of Parliament are expected to be seated to commence the business of the House at 9am, instead of the usual 10am.
