Private developer before court for disrespecting assembly

The Amasaman Magistrate’s Court, has granted a 44-year-old estate developer, Jinko Seidu Shaibu of Asofa the bail of GH? 20,000.00, with two sureties, for obstructing a public way.

The Court presided over by Nana Bruce Asibey asked the accused, who pleaded not guilty to reappear on February 25.

According to the prosecutor, Mr Raymond Agbodo Selassie, Principal Environmental Officer, the accused person constructed a building that extended into a road constructed by Member of Parliament for Trobo-Amasaman.

The Member of Parliament therefore wrote to the Ga West Municipal Assembly for action to be taken.

He said a special task force was sent to the site and wrote “remove” and “stop work” on the affected part of the building, which had encroached on the road and asked the accused person to report to the assembly with the building document, but he declined.

The task force therefore went and demolished part of the building and asked him to send his document to the assembly but he refused and rather went ahead to re-erect the demolished portion and raised the building to a higher level.

He was therefore summoned to appear before the court.
