Seminar On The Environment

The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly has organised a seminar at Asikuma on environmental management for 85 participants, most of whom were women. they came from the 31st December Women’s Movement, the Ghana Bakers Association, District Enironmental Management Committee, Farmers and Concerned Citizens Associations. The aim was to educate them on the need to observe good personal and environmental hygiene. They were taught how to under take tree planting and clean-up exercises. The District Chief Executive, Mrs.. Charlotte Kyei-Mensah, urged women to team up with their male counterparts in the crusade against environmental pollution, depletion of the forests environmental management. Mrs.. Alice Adarkwa-Dadzie of the Environmental Protection Agency, expressed concern about the dangers facing the rural communities as a result of improper use of resources. She made special mention of air and water pollution through indiscriminate disposal of refuse.
