Hunter arrested for shooting colleague hunter

A 29-year-old hunter is in the grips of the Eastern regional police for shooting his colleague hunter.

Kwame Anthony,29, shot Gbemu Simon,43, after he mistook him for an animal during a hunting expedition Sunday.

He is reported to have told the Police upon his arrest that he saw Gbemu as a Grasscutter.

The bizarre incident occurred at Asasekokor near Adawso in the Akuapim North Municipality.

Deputy Eastern regional Public Relations Officer of the Police Sgt. Gideon Boateng who confirmed the incident to Starr News said the suspect admitted the offence but explained that he was convinced that the victim was an animal before he took the shot.

This the second time in a fortnight such an incident is occurring in the Eastern region.

Last week, a 72-year-old hunter, Kwabena Adu, shot a 40-year-old farmer while hunting at Anum in Asuogyaman.
