We’ll cite BOG governor for contempt if … – PAC

Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah risk being removed from office if he continues to disregard summons by the legislature, the Vice chairman of Parliament’s Public Account Committee (PAC), Samuel Atta Akyea has said.

The Public Accounts Committee is livid that the BOG governor consistently fail to appear before the committee, despite invitations by the august house.

“If you are answerable to the people, and you want to attend to the Committee as you please, not when you are called to do so; you don’t have respect for law; so why should you sit in such an august office?” the Abuakwa South lawmaker queried.

He said parliament might cite him for contempt if he did not show up at PAC sittings.

This comes on the heels of the BOG’s appearance at the PAC sitting in relation to the Auditor General’s report for 2013.

Mr. Kweku Agyeman Manu, Chairman of the Committee, was compelled to suspend sitting because according to him BoG came unprepared appearing before the committee.
