The management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has placed 19 staff of the authority on interdiction.
It follows a nationwide investigation by the Bureau of National Investigations into some alleged financial malpractices at the scheme.
The former boss of the NHIA Sylvester Mensah has become a subject of investigation by the BNI in the past weeks after the president directed a probe into the operations of the scheme.
An internal memo signed by the Deputy Chief Executive (Administration & HR) of the NHIA lists the following interdicted staff as;
1. Alex Odoi Nartey – Deputy Chief Executive, Finance & Investment
2. Gustav Cruickshank – Director, Internal Audit
3. Perry Nelson – Director, MIS
4. Rudolf Zimmerman – Director, Financial Accounting
5. Joseph Annor – Senior Manager, provider Payment Directorate
6. Enoch Affanyi – Database Administrator
7. Isaac Afari – District Manager, Asutifi
8. Edward Nkrumah – District Manager, Dormaa
9. Patrick Kuagbenu – District Manager, Sunyani
10. Rafat Dawud Ali – District Manager, Jaman North
11. Kwaku Asare – Snr. M&E Officer, Volta Regional Office
12. Peter Kwasi Sarpong – District Manager, Tain
13. Taminu Ahmed – District Manager, Pru
14. Mohammed Mahmud District Accountant, Tamale Municipal
15. Abdul Rahman Abdulai District Accountant Asutifi
16. Elvis Kwadwo Baah District Accountant, Dormaa
17. Daniel Beyinuu District Accountant, Kintampo South
18. Yaw Simon Gokah District Accountant, Ashaiman

The memo to staff added “This administrative action, as prescribed by the Conditions of Service and Collective Agreement, is part of due process as the above mentioned staff continues to assist in investigations.
“It has been decided that Management communicates this development to staff as a means of ending the rumour mongering and unnecessary speculations that accompany such activity, and to urge all staff to concentrate on working hard to ensure the sustenance of the scheme.
“Management wishes to advise staff to uphold the highest professional standards in the conduct of official business.”
