District Assembly grants scholarships to students

Kuntanase (Ash), Aug 21, GNA- The Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Assembly has granted 85.8 million cedis worth of scholarship to 216 brilliant but needy students from the district and who are in Senior Secondary Schools (SSS).

Mr Bright Addai-Mununkum, the District Chief Executive, said the assembly is supporting parents whose wards are in senior secondary schools in view of the deprived nature of the district.

He was speaking at the presentation of the awards worth 61.2 million cedis to the last batch of 182 students on Wednesday. Mr Addai-Mununkum said the first batch of 34 beneficiaries have already received theirs totalling 24.6 million cedis.

The DCE said the assembly has also received 75 applications from teacher trainees for sponsorship but due to constraints, it is unable to help the applicants.
