Abetifi to get a new police station

The Nkwatia Development Foundation, a non-governmental organization, is constructing a police station for the Abetifi Township in the Kwahu East Municipality.

The GH¢ 500,000.00 project is to help decongest and replace the existing police station to help curb criminal activities in the area.

Mr Thomas Yeboah Wadie, the Chairman for the Foundation, told the Ghana News Agency that the project which started a year ago would be completed and handed over to the police service before this year’s Easter festivities.

He said the building consists of four cells for both male, female adults, an armoury, a charge office, an exhibit room and an office for the station officer.

To curb accommodation problems, he said a vast land donated by Nana Otuobi Yiadom, the Chief of Nkwatia, has been allocated for the building of a two storey building for the station officer and an eight semi-detached houses to cater for other police personnel posted to the station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Angwubutoge Awuni, the Eastern Regional Police Commander, who visited the site with other officials, commended the Foundation for coming up with the project and entreated other non-governmental Organizations to emulate the kind gesture.
