More Die Of Pneumococcal Meningitis

Twelve people have so far died from the pneumococcal meningitis outbreak in the Brong Ahafo Region within the past two weeks. Eight died at Brohani in the Tain district while Wenchi has also recorded four deaths. Two others are receiving treatment at the Methodist Hospital at Wenchi. Thirty others are also being treated at the Nsawkaw hospital in the Tain district.
The Director of the Wenchi Methodist Hospital Mr. Kwesi Botwe told Suncity Radio that the hospital and the district health directorate are in control of the situation. He said the hospital is also collaborating with the Regional Health Directorate to ensure that the disease does not get out of hand. The disease was first detected at Brohani in the Tain district where eight people have died with 30 others on admission.
