I won’t tolerate violence – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama on Saturday said he would not tolerate violence in the 2016 general elections.

“I am known to be a man of peace, and I am committed to peace. I won’t be agent of violence in the elections,” he said.

President Mahama said this when he paid a courtesy call on Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli, at the end of a 3-day presidential retreat in Ho.

He said he appreciated concerns from stakeholders on the need to ensure peace before, during and after the elections and said he remained true to the mandate given him.

Earlier, Togbe Afede appealed to all political parties to conduct their campaigns in a civil manner and tone down their exchanges and insults.

The retreat discussed challenges facing the country and code of conduct for ministers among others.
