Kumasi: No child missing in Afful Nkwanta fire – Police

Security officials in the Ashanti region have denied media reports that scores of children are missing following the fire outbreak at Afful Nkwanta in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

The fire which occurred Saturday night has rendered over 200 residents of the shanty community, who mainly Kayayei (porters), homeless.

Starr News’ Isaac Bediako Justice, who is currently at the scene of the blaze, reports that checks by the various security agencies including, the fire service have revealed that no one is missing or hurt as a result of the fire.

The KMA boss Kojo Bonsu and many other state officials have reported at the scene helping to calm the victims.

Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) who are at the scene have pledged to assist the victims as soon as the extent of damage is assessed.
