Awards Committee Inaugurated

Accra, Aug.20, GNA – A 15-member planning committee for the 2004 National Tourism Awards was on Wednesday inaugurated with a call on members to make transparency their watchword in the selection of the winners.

Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, who made the call urged members to work together as a team to justify the confidence reposed in them. “The credibility of members would be put to test in the selection of the eventual award winner,” he said, adding that members needed to bring their organizational skills to the fore in the execution of the roles assigned to them.

Mr Martin Mireku acting Executive Director, Ghana Tourist Board is chairing the 15-member committee.

Mr Mireku called on regional organizers of the event to put in place regional committees by the end of August He said the upcoming event, the sixth in the series was expected to reward corporate bodies, tourism industry practitioners and committees whose activities had contributed towards the growth of the industry.
