Get involved in development – MCE advocates

Madam Charlotte Otuwaa Odoom, the first female Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Sekondi/ Takoradi Assembly has called for the involvement of all and sundry to hasten the development of the Metropolitan area.

She said the Metropolis also had lots of potential that could be harnessed in growing and improving the lives of the people.

Madam Odoom was speaking at a maiden media encounter organized by the Assembly to introduce the new MCE to journalists as well as offer the opportunity to outline her developmental goals for the Assembly.

She said her priority areas would concentrate on revamping of the Apremdo market, decongest the Takoradi Central Market, revenue generation, public private partnership (PPP) programme, street naming, waste management and sanitation, decongestion and removal of unauthorized structures.

Touching on the door to door refuse collection, the new MCE said she would prosecute household who fail to register for the exercise, explore ways of converting waste to energy, while stakeholders would be involved to tap their expertise to advance PPP agenda.

Again, the Assembly would in consultation with transport owners build terminal at the Apremdo market to encourage effective transportation.

Madam Odoom said building of CHPS compounds, schools and other infrastructure would feature prominently in a quest to grow the Metropolitan area.
