A 28-year-old unemployed, Eric Hagan, has been sentenced to one year imprisonment for unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage and stealing by a Tarkwa District court.
He pleaded guilty to the three charges and was convicted on his own plea.
Prosecuting, Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman, told the court, presided over by Mr. Jonathan Nunoo that the complainant, Mr. Evans Donkor, is a miner who resided at Nsuta, while the convict stayed at Kedawen in the Tarkwa-Nsueam Municipality.
On December 11, last year, around 1630 hours, the police had a tip-off that the convict had been arrested by a group of people for allegedly stealing electrical cables valued at GH¢12,000.00, which were fixed at the complainant’s uncompleted building at New Atuabo Budo, a suburb of Tarkwa.
Therefore, the Tarkwa Police were informed about the arrest and moved quickly to the scene and rescued Hagan from being lynched by the mob.
When the police interrogated the convict, he confessed stealing the electrical cables from the said location since he had worked as a labourer in that uncompleted building about a month ago.
The convict was arraigned and prosecuted accordingly.
