More students benefit from Dormaa education fund

The Dormaa Education Endowment Fund (DORMEEF), has offered scholarships totalling GHC 198,925.87 to 1,573 students in second cycle and tertiary institutions in the area.

Additionally, it has set aside GHC50,000.00 to support 114 students in this academic year, Barima Oppong Kyeremeh-Sikafo, the Akwamuhene and Chairman of the fund has said.

He was speaking at an end of year party the Dormaa Traditional Council organised for the chiefs and people of the traditional area in Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Brong- Ahafo Region.

The fund was established by the Dormaa Traditional Council in 2000 under the instrumentality of Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang-Badu II to support brilliant and needy students to pursue higher in education.

Barima Kyeremeh-Sikafo said many needy students in the area have applied for the scholarship package.

He and appealed to Dormaa-Ahenkro citizens especially those abroad to contribute to the fund.

He observed that the establishment of the fund has challenged many students in the area to study hard to pursue higher in education.

Osagyefo Agyemang-Badu, commended administrators of the fund for its management and asked them to avoid favouritism and ensure that it benefits qualified students.

He appreciated the improved performance of students in the area, and charged them to concentrate on their books to achieve high academic laurels.
