Gomoa Nduem (C/R), Aug. 17, GNA – Nana Kwame Arhin, chairman of the Gomoa District branch of the Ghana Federation of Traditional Medical Practitioners Association (GHAFTRAM), has called on the Ghana Health Service to form a task force to arrest quack doctors whose activities are detrimental to efficient health care delivery.
Nana Arhin, who was addressing an HIV/AIDS education durbar at Gomoa Nduem in the Central Region said the GHAFTRAM has set up similar task forces to arrest quack herbalists.
The durbar was organised by the Gomoa District branch of the GHAFTRAM in collaboration with the Ghana AIDS Commission and the Gomoa District Assembly.
Nana Arhin cautioned herbalists who have not had their products tested at the Centre for Scientific Research into Traditional Medicine at Mampong Akwampim, not to put them on sale.
He urged Ghanaians especially chemical sellers, drivers and lorry park overseers to demand certificates and notes proving that the herbal products sold in their premises have been tested before allowing herbalist to sell them.
Nana Arhin cautioned herbalists to desist from making claims of having discovered cure for the HIV/AIDS when they had no basis for making such claims.
He appealed to musicians to stop composing songs that promote immorality and urged the television and radio stations not to play such profane songs.
