Two Garrison Education Centre rewards staff

Thirteen staff and retired teachers of the Two Garrison Command Education Centre in Takoradi have been rewarded for their dedication and meritorious service.

The Education Centre, which comprised 14 basic schools, rewarded eight retired staff who had served from 30 and 41 years with citations and double decker refrigerators while four active teachers were presented with certificates and parcels.

Mr Grant Musah Biney, a social worker, who assists students of the Centre to cross traffic light on daily basis, was rewarded with a certificate and GH? 200.00.

They were rewarded at the 2015 end-of-year send-off party held at the Air Force Base in Takoradi.

Myohaung Forces Basic School which came first out of 14 schools under the Two Garrison schools in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) was rewarded with a trophy and certificate.

Mr Franklin Kennedy Dzigbede, Sekondi-Takoradi Director of Education, commended the retired staff and teachers for contributing their quota towards shaping the future of the students and encouraged them to give off their best in all their endeavours.

Major Livingstone Penti, Two Garrison Education Centre Officer, said the Second Infantry Command has instituted an education scholarship scheme, which rewarded 10 students from the Education Centre who excelled in this year’s BECE.

He entreated the management of the scheme to ensure its sustainability in order to support more students in the future.

Mrs Benedicta Tanui Seidu, Regional Human Resource Manager of the Ghana Education Service, urged teachers to work hard and upgrade themselves academically in order to be abreast of new methods of teaching.
