Desist from insulting opponents – Ablakwa

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has appealed to party members, to desist from insulting other candidates contesting the primaries.

The NDC parliamentary primary election in the North Tongu Constituency has been re-scheduled for Sunday December 20, 2015, following the lifting of an injunction placed on it by Christopher Kofi Eleblu, an aspirant.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday, Mr Ablakwa, expressed his appreciation to his constituents for being patient as they awaited the conclusion of the process initiated by Mr Eleblu.

He said his agenda was to secure 97 per cent votes for President John Dramani Mahama, adding that, “we have done it and can do it again, in the last election we secured 93 per cent for the President and we want to add four percent to it come 2016.”

Mr Ablakwa, who is also a Deputy Minister of Education in-Charge of Tertiary Education, said after the election was over, all would be brought on board to help secure the 97 per cent vote for the President.

He called on his supporters to come out in their numbers on Sunday December 20th and vote to enable him to continue with his development projects in education, health agriculture and other social interventions.

Mr Eleblu was disqualified by the NDC National Petition Review Committee on October 14, 2015, on grounds that he had reportedly been arraigned before an Accra High Court (Financial Division) for defrauding the State to the tune of GH¢646, 000.00.

Following his disqualification, Mr Eleblu appealed an Accra High Court to place an injunction on the primary until the final verdict of the court on his case was determined.
