Unpaid road contractors receive death threats

Executives of the Progressive Road Contractors Association are reportedly receiving threatening messages from some unknown persons.

It follows their demand for the payment of debts owed them by the government.

Government currently owes local road contractors over GHC100 million.

The contractors recently fumed at government as their bankers pursue them for loans they procured to execute their respective jobs.

Speaking to Starr News, the President of the Progressive Road Contractors Association Juana Adjei said their situation is dire.

“They promised to pay the monies by October or November and up till now we have not been paid, some of us are receiving threatening messages because some people feel we are not pushing the government enough.

“As we speak, some of them have lost their properties and others have even died and still the monies have not been paid. Yet we all know that the payment is long overdue”.
