The Winneba District Magistrate Court has sentenced Prince Ghartey, 24, to eighteen months imprisonment in hard labour for stealing and causing damage.
Ghartey, a native of Winneba, pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted accordingly.
Prosecution Police Inspector Peter Agbelie told the Court presided over by Mr Alexander Oworae that the complainants of the case were Esi Essuman and Eunice Mamle Boako both students of University of Education, Winneba and live at the Water Works suburb of Winneba.
He said on 4th September, about 1030 hrs the accused entered the premises of the complainants house in their absence and broke into the room of Eunice Mamle Boako stole her provisions and an amount of GH¢250.00.
Inspector Agbelie said the accused also broke into the room of Esi Essuma and stole an amount of GH¢250, some provisions and a Multi-TV decoder.
He said the complainants returned from town, detected the theft and reported the matter to the police.
The accused was later arrested at a drinking bar in Winneba and admitted stealing the items from the complainant rooms.
Inspector Agbelie said the accused was then taken to his house where the items were found and later conveyed to the police station.
