I’ve done better than my predecessors – Minister

Sports Minister Dr. Ahmed Mustapha has rated his performance at the ministry as satisfactory, better than his predecessors.

The former minister of state at the presidency took over from Mahama Ayariga, who supervised Ghana’s campaign at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea where Ghana placed second.

The Sports Ministry has seen two different Ministers in 2014 – Ayariga was appointed the Sports Minister after the Black Stars Brazil debacle in 2014 which necessitated the reassignment of Elvis Afriyie Ankrah to the presidency.

The MP for Ayawaso North replaced Ayariga immediately after the Black Stars campaign in the 2015 AFCON.

But with over nine months in office, the 59-year-old legislator believes his persistent push for the Sports Bill makes him an exceptional administrator.

“As far as I am concerned, I am the only minister who has been persistent for the passing of the Sports Bill, look, whether the bill needs addition or not, it must move to cabinet for the passage to promote youth and sports development in the country,” Dr. Mustapha told Starr Sports.

“This I think I need to give myself a satisfactory mark for my performance.”
